It's Almost Time
For the Official Selection!
This is a big week for the Utah International Film Festival, so here’s everything you need to know before the official announcement drops.
We’re thrilled to share that submissions more than doubled this year. That growth has allowed us to showcase incredible projects from all over the world—and, at the same time, it means we simply don’t have enough time in the schedule to show every exceptional film that came our way. The quality this year was extraordinary, and we want every filmmaker to know that non-selection is never a reflection of the strength of your storytelling. Sometimes it’s just math.
To keep up with the growth, we’ve also moved the festival to a larger venue. This gives us room for more screenings, expanded educational offerings, and stronger hospitality for all official selections. It’s a major step forward for the festival, and we can’t wait for you to experience it.
Festival passes are now officially on sale HERE. If you need help figuring out how to pick up passes, check out the video below.
Once the festival concludes, any filmmaker who would like feedback can request their project evaluation. We’re happy to send it—our hope is always to support your work and help you grow, selected or not.
FilmFreeway will release the Official Selection announcement SUNDAY Dec 7th at 3:05 PM (PST). Keep an eye on your inbox.
Our theme this year is Old Hollywood—think Cary Grant’s charm, Bette Davis’ whit (we miss you), Marilyn Monroe’s icon status, and Marlon Brando’s intensity. If you want film inspiration, picture The Godfather, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Casablanca, or The Sound of Music. If you’re coming to the festival, you’re more than welcome to dress the part and give the red carpet a little extra sparkle.
But remember: the dress code is a guideline, not a rule. Show up however you’re comfortable. We care far more about having you with us than whether your outfit matches the theme.
More updates coming soon. It’s almost showtime.
